MEDIA ADVISORY: Rep. Gina McCabe’s ‘Travis Alert’ bill to be heard in House Judiciary Committee

The House Judiciary Committee will be holding a public hearing on House Bill 2287, the “Travis Alert” legislation sponsored by Rep. Gina McCabe, R-Goldendale, on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in House Hearing Room A, in the John L. O'Brien Building in Olympia.

The bill would create a system for a colored, reflective puzzle-piece decal that could be placed in a vehicle or on the main entrance of a residence to indicate a person with disabilities could be present. It would also create an enhanced 911 program for parents to optionally submit information pertaining to their child's disability so first responders would know how to best address the emergency situation.

A number of constituents in support of the legislation are expected to attend the hearing.
