Rep. Gina McCabe appointed as assistant ranking member on House Labor and Workplace Standards Committee

Rep. Gina McCabe, R-Goldendale, has been appointed to serve as the assistant ranking member on the House Labor and Workplace Standards Committee.

“My background in business makes me well-suited to take on the challenges before the Labor and Workplace Standards Committee,” said McCabe. “One of my priorities when I came into office was to work on and support legislation to ease onerous burdens on businesses so they can expand and provide employment opportunities for Washingtonians. There's a lot of work to still be done on that front, and I look forward to continuing the progress we've made in the committee.”

The House Labor and Workplace Standards Committee considers issues relating to family leave, safety and health standards, employment standards, apprenticeships, unemployment compensation and more. Rep. Matt Manweller, R-Ellensburg, serves as the ranking Republican on the committee.

McCabe also serves as the assistant ranking member on the House Business and Financial Services Committee, and established a business caucus in the Legislature. The business caucus allows lawmakers and business owners and entrepreneurs to come together to discuss challenges related to business regulation and expansion.

The 2016 legislative session is scheduled to adjourn March 10.
