Rep. Gina McCabe talks with KIT about bills waiting for gubernatorial signature

Rep. Gina McCabe, R-Goldendale talked with KIT about legislation she has introduced which has moved through the political process and is now awaiting gubernatorial signature.  One of those bills will ensure that rural areas have sexual assault nurse examiners available.  The legislation came as a result of committee work done by McCabe and other lawmakers following questions concerning 6,000 untested rape kits languishing on state shelves.

McCabe, a freshman legislator, also has a payroll bill awaiting the governor's signature.  The measure aligns state and federal law to ensure compliance, and McCabe indicates it was introduced at the request of the Yakima auditor's office.
