McCabe tapped for leadership role on the House Community Development, Housing and Tribal Affairs Committee

Rep. Gina McCabe, R-Goldendale, was chosen by House Republican leadership to serve as the ranking Republican on the House Community Development, Housing and Tribal Affairs Committee Friday. She will assume her new post when lawmakers return to Olympia for the 2017 legislative session.

“I am honored my leadership team has confidence after my first term to unanimously select me as the ranking Republican member on the House Community Development, Housing and Tribal Affairs Committee,” said McCabe. “Among the issues the committee covers is affordable housing. Not only is the lack of rental affordability a national crisis, it has also deeply affected our state. We must work together on innovative solutions.”

The committee considers a variety of issues, including accessible and affordable housing, homelessness, veterans, tourism, and government relations between the state and Indian tribes.

“As the CEO and general manager of a hotel, I'm looking forward to working on solutions that boost tourism and continue to propel our state economy forward,” McCabe added.

McCabe will also serve as the assistant ranking Republican on the House Labor and Workplace Standards Committee, and as a member of the House Business and Financial Services Committee.

The 2017 legislative session will begin Jan. 9.
