McCabe selected to participate in emerging leaders conference

Rep. Gina McCabeR-Goldendale, has been selected to participate in the National Conference of State Legislatures' (NCSL) Emerging Leaders Symposium Nov. 8-10 in San Jose, California.

McCabe said she is honored to have been chosen to participate in the conference and is looking forward to hearing from other lawmakers from across the country about what they believe makes great leaders.

“I believe the key to effective leadership is, without a doubt, an active and passionate citizenry,” said McCabe. “So much of lawmakers' so-called 'successes' are actually born from ideas we hear from constituents. I owe a great deal to my constituents in the Fourteenth District who make it possible for me to lead on issues that matter most to them.”

During the three-day conference, lawmakers will meet to share their approaches to legislative leadership. Some of the topics will include successful negotiation, adaptive leadership, and essential traits for leaders. NCSL, which organized the symposium, is a nonpartisan organization that supports state legislators and their staff by providing training, seminars and other resources.

This won't be the first time McCabe participates in a conference for emerging leaders. Last July, she was one of 50 lawmakers nationwide to participate in the State Legislative Leaders Foundation's 2016 Emerging Leaders Program.

The 2018 legislative session is scheduled to begin in January.
