Columbia High School student serves as legislative page in state House of Representatives

Gabe Roth, a student at Columbia High School, served as a legislative page in the Washington State House of Representatives Feb. 19-23. He was sponsored by his 14th District Rep. Gina McCabe, R-Goldendale.

“It's great having local students travel to Olympia to play a role in their state Legislature,” said McCabe. “I want to thank Gabe for all of his work during his week-long service. I hope his exposure to the Legislature has inspired him to continue finding ways to serve his community.”

Gabe is also an Eagle Scout.

As a page, Gabe was responsible for delivering messages and documents to state lawmakers in their offices, committee meetings and the House chamber. He also attended Legislative Page School during the day.

Each year, students from around the state apply to participate in the House Page Program. To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $35 per day while serving in the program. McCabe encourages those who qualify to learn more about the program and apply here.

The 2018 legislative session is scheduled to adjourn March 8.
