Rep. Mosbrucker, state and local officials to hold community town hall meeting Tuesday in Goldendale on Newell Road Wildfire
Rep. Gina Mosbrucker is announcing a community town hall meeting Tuesday, July 25, at 6 p.m. at the Goldendale Middle School, 520 E. Collins Street in Goldendale, to update local Klickitat County residents on the Newell Road Fire. Mosbrucker will be joined by officials from Klickitat County Search and Rescue, Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Klickitat County Sheriff's Office, the Incident Command Management Team, the American Red Cross, and other fire officials.
The fire started around 3:35 p.m. on Friday on Newell Road near Bickleton and has now grown to more than 50,000 acres, covering at least 20 miles of land. State DNR crews and aerial mobilization efforts are on site, along with local fire resources, to fight the wildfire. Areas within the fire zone are under various evacuation levels.
βIt's important we bring the community together to help everyone understand what is being done to protect lives and property and prevent further damage as this wildfire grows. We want to be available to answer questions and help inform residents of what they can expect and what they should be doing to protect themselves and their families,β said Mosbrucker, R-Goldendale.
